Theophilus Anim Bediako

I am a second-year PhD student in the Department of Statistical Science at Baylor University, Waco, Texas. I graduated with a master’s degree in Mathematics-Statistics from South Dakota State University where I had the opportunity to build a strong foundation in Linear Algebra, Machine Learning(Clustering & Classification Algorithms) and Probability Theory.

While at SDSU and under the supervision of Professor Semhar Michael, I completed a clustering and classification project that won a Poster Presentation award at the 2023 SDSU Data Science Symposium. The same project was selected for presentation at the 2023 International Indian Statistical Association Conference held on the campus of Colorado School of Mines. With this experience, I believe I am well-prepared to take on new and challenging projects in Statistics and Machine Learning.

At Baylor, I continue to learn statistical methods for Bayesian Inference, Survival Analysis and Clinical Trial. Currently, I am working with Professor James Stamey and Dr Jackson Barth to improve upon the existing Bayesian methods for modeling under-reported and zero-inflated count data.

Outside the classroom, I do spend time talking to my family, taking nature photographs along the Brazos river and playing soccer.
